Jerusalem 50th Anniversary (Event)

Jerusalem 50th Anniversary | March 24th @ 7:00pm

What an incredible season of redemption that we are having as we continue with the counting of the Omer (Leviticus 23:15-16). The upcoming Feast of Shavuot is connected to the Feast of Passover because of the counting of the Omer. We are counting up to fifty and that will bring us to the Feast of Shavuot. We will be celebrating on June 3rd. I know that I have shared this before but I will share it again in regard to two very important events that took place during the counting of the Omer.

The first event was the establishment of the state of Israel on May 14, 1948 and the other was when the Jewish people took back the city of Jerusalem during the Six Day War (June 5-10, 1967). The counting of the Omer is actually a commandment that we get to do (Leviticus 23:15-16). it is a real blessing to the whole community. My children have even reminded Danielle and I to count the Omer even though we get really busy. On May 24th, we will be celebrating “Jerusalem Day” as a congregation along with All Pro Pastors with Paul Pickern.

“Jerusalem Day (Yom Yerushalayim) is an Israeli National holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the old city in the aftermath of the June 1967 Six Day War. The day is officially marked by state ceremonies and memorial services. The chief Rabbinate of Israel declared Jerusalem Day a minor religious holiday to mark the regaining of access to the Western Wall.” (Wikipedia). This year the city of Jerusalem will be celebrating its 59th anniversary of being liberated since the Six Day War (June 5-10, 1967) and that is truly a Jubilee.
